Altares

Altares is a major player in the management of information on companies. Its specialty: inter-company knowledge. Altares was born from the merger of the BIL company (Legal Information Base) and Dun & Bradstreet France.

The Intuiz Project

A major player in the sales of added-value information on companies, Altares has to provide reliable, accurate and complete data, but also to allow its customers to discover, explore and analyze information.

To meet this need of discovery and data mining, Altares created a new offer, "Intuiz", thats relies on new concepts for user interface, navigation and data representation. Intuiz allows customers to perform a crossed and progressive exploration of various information, whether digital nomenclatures or financial results, but also the related legal texts.

The aim of the project was twofold :

  • Migrate the historical data of all French companies for the past 25 years into the new Intuiz system. This technically passed by moving, processing and checking more than 1 billion lines.
  • Afterwards, allow the processing of daily data into the new system.

The technical background

The first step of the Intuiz project involved the migration of data from a DB2 / 400 environment to an Oracle environment.

The transition from the previous operating system to the new software architecture involved not only the movement but also the transformation and standardization of the data to match the format expected by Intuiz.

Altares business is based primarily on the quality of its data, so the migration had to provide a significant number of controls and cross checks to ensure that the output data semantics had not been changed bet-ween the two systems.

Today, the daily data flows feeding the Intuiz application continue to be powered by Stambia.
